This Super Bowl is about more than a new stadium, a gigantic screen, or the pride of the Texas. This Super Bowl is about the changing game of football. Last season the Saints won with a balanced attack yes, but a balanced attack with a compliment of three running backs and long passes. Are the Saints the odds-on favorite to repeat? No, that honor would go to the Indianapolis Colts, the team the Saints defeated last season. Still, the Saints are second, followed closely by the Patriots.

It is the meeting of the two greatest football teams in the world, but it is also an unofficial American holiday called Super Bowl Sunday.

Who knew the Atlanta Hawks would be as good as they have been? They could very well be selling Atlanta Hawks NFC Championship tickets before its all said and done. Super Bowl History

The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League, the pinnacle of American football. The game is almost like a national holiday in the United States. It is held annually on the last Sunday in January or the first Sunday in February, and is one of the most watched television broadcasts of the year.

An AFL-NFL Championship Game was first played after the 1966 football season on January 15, 1967, between the champions of the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL). The game was a result of the merger agreement between the two leagues that took full effect for the 1970 season.

The name was inspired by Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt's daughter playing with a small rubber ball with high bouncing powers called a super ball. After the 1970 season, the game reverted from an essentially interleague championship to the NFL championship, featuring the champions of the NFL's two conferences, the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference. The winning team receives the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named for the coach of the Green Bay Packers, who won the first two Super Bowl games. The trophy was named prior to Super Bowl V in his honor following his death in 1970.

Back in 1967, when the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs met up in Super Bowl I the game was known as the "AFL-NFL World Championship Game". This was the title game for two rival leagues, the American Football League and National Football League. Those people who had Super Bowl tickets for the first two seasons saw blow-outs by the Green Bay Packers from the more powerful NFL. Many viewed the NFL as far superior, and above a league like the AFL. But Super Bowl III changed that thought when Joe Namath guaranteed and delivered a victory for the New York Jets. The win helped spark a merger between the two leagues, creating the NFL as we know it today.
